He didn’t know what to do. It felt like he had thousands of burdens on his back, and he could no longer carry them. He found himself constantly complaining. This situation was starting to bother him. It wasn’t helping at all. He wanted to get out of this situation. ‘’What can I do’’, He thought. Perhaps this was the key sentence. Because it was time to do something…
Life was the greatest teacher. Everything we went through taught us something. The quality of one's life was determined by the quality of one's experiences. “Then how can I improve the quality of my experiences?” he thought.
His student years came to his mind. They would study unit by unit, topic by topic. Dividing down the subjects into parts, in this way made it easier for him to understand and learn, and took him further. He thought, he looked at his life. İn fact if he examined his life in the same way, topic by topic and try to understand, he could perhaps solve many things... because every subject in life is an experience and teaches something.
Suddenly, he let out an "ahhhh!" ‘’I had only turned the pages of the book of life. I didn’t try to understand the subjects. I didn't ponder. I looked but didn't read. I just lived and passed by’’. Suddenly he shook himself awake; but as long as he was still breathing and thinking about these things, then there was something to be done.
Much like a patient being laid on the table for treatment, he laid himself on the table. In other words, he divided his experiences into topic by topic, unit by unit. It was necessary to start somewhere. The car had a forward gear as well as a reverse gear. He thought about the places he went backwards. Maybe he couldn't go back to those years, but at least he could protect himself from making the same mistakes. At least he could come out of this unit having learned.
Human is a creature that makes mistakes and we make a lot of mistakes. However, what is worse than making mistakes is repeating the same mistakes. Perfection is unattainable, but it is possible to prevent repeating mistakes.
So, how could he have prevented repetition of mistakes?
Why had he made those mistakes?
What made that mistake attractive?
Why had he insisted on making certain mistakes?
He thought and asked himself questions. Sometimes, the answers he found hurt him deeply... But it was time for reckoning and he didn't want to walk away from what he had come so close to, even if it hurt. He realized that without this confrontation there would be no way out of here.
He started talking to himself. He shifted from one side to the other as he spoke. It was like he was having a conversation with his past self and his present self. It felt good. On the one hand He was looking around. He said that people who talk to themselves are not very welcome and first laughed at himself. He thought, “What would someone say if they saw me like this?
He started to sort out the positive and negative things in his experiences. He divided them into topics.
• In which subjects did he stumble?
• On which issues did he succumb to his pleasure?
• In which matters did he not do it because he was running away from his pain?
• On which issues did he procrastinate?
• On which issues was he late or not early?
• In which matters did he perform less than he should have?
• In which matters did he blame the outside world?
• Where has he been most wrong?
• Where he was deceived, what did he miss and why?
• What did he think he lost? What did he really lose?
• What did he think he won? What did he really win?
• What did he do well?
• What were the reasons for what he did well?
• What could he have done better?
• Where was he strong?
• Where was he weak?
He spent time with these thoughts. He divided his life, topic by topic, page by page. It was hard to confront oneself. His head ached, and he felt exhausted. But inside him, a hope was born that he had never felt while complaining before. He felt something like the joy of a child who began to solve questions.
Although he hadn’t solved them yet, he had asked himself the questions he needed to ask in order to find solutions. This was a significant step. How could it happen without noticing it? Awareness was the first step.
Then he returned to the subjects he had categorized; they might have seemed insignificant or simple. He could have thought that “If I tackled this issue, my life would be better?” But again, memories of his school years came to mind. Page by page, unit by unit, so many topics had been resolved. He realized that he had to start small. He should not underestimate the simple and settle for small solutions.
And now it was time to take action.
He should start with what he could afford.
No simplification, no postponement.
He was determined...
Best of all, he felt better
So; have you thought about it?
What is your 'SIMPLE'?
